Mellow Nights

Tonight is the kind of night that I want to either
a) Watch movies (I have a couple that are begging to be watched) or
b) Read books and listen to mellow kind of mood music-aka soundtracks like the one from the Chronicles of Narnia

Unfortunately neither of those things can happen as of yet...at least not in full...not while there`s tidying up to do. My sister's coming in a couple hours for the weekend so I figured my house should be relatively presentable. That at least is one good thing about having people over-it gives me reason to clean up my house a bit. Though often I ignore whatever mess is there and wish it to disappear and somehow it does while I'm occupied in other things (like reading and watching movies or hanging out)...Speaking of hanging out, I got to hang out with my friend Sonia last night. We went cycling down the Bow River trail despite the hills and wind. So beautiful down there and reminded me of certain areas back in Manitoba minus the city skyline. And it was just good to get caught up and really talk about life.

Anyhow happy weekend!

Sometimes...

Sometimes I wish I had a spare cell phone just for the express purpose of throwing it at the wall in frustration. Not that I'm particularly frustrated at the moment but still. It's as if throwing something and seeing it explode into a million pieces would be somewhat satisfying. Kinda like how some people get satisfaction from punching something (i.e. a punching bag or someone's shoulder). But as I'm not exactly a fighter, throwing things somehow gives that same kind of satisfaction. Sometimes I think I would throw my laptop against the wall, except that would be stupid since I would then be without a laptop and would lose any work that was on it among other stuffs. Hence having a cell phone just for throwing against a wall. It would be even better if I could put the pieces back together, though somehow I doubt that could happen. And this is why I have failed to get said cell phone because then I would also be out a couple bucks or so...And the cell phone would be broken probably beyond my fixing capabilities and I would have a gazillion pieces to pick up and throw out...and no I don't bottle up my emotions too much so don't worry...and usually I don't get frustrated to the point of wanting to break something so it's all good. And I'm getting the idea that I'm not succeeding in convincing you of my sanity so I will drop the shovel and stop digging...

Oh and Happy First Day of Summer tomorrowx

Transit Times

I saw Justin Bieber on the the bus once...no joke...ok actually it was someone who looked like him...I didn't think people actually did that kind of thing...

It makes me smile when people give their seats up for someone else i.e. a mother with kids/stroller, or an elderly person

When bus drivers take their time going over rough places in the road...Some bus drivers don't and it feels like the bus is about to fall apart so it's pretty great when the bus drivers take their time going over speed bumps and other bumps in the road

It also makes me smile when other passengers help people out with getting to where the other person needs to go and know how to get there almost as well as the bus driver

I love randomly seeing friends or people I know on the bus/c train. It just makes the trip more fun and I get to talk with the person on the way instead of reading or listening to music.

So often we forget that there are good people in the world. (Though simply being good people won't get one into heaven...that's a result of being saved by faith through grace.) But it does make life easier when we help each other out by doing nice things for others, particularly when those things are unexpected and in otherwise thankless tasks and jobs.

"Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you." Matthew 7:12

On Skirts and Friends

On occasion I have the idea that I want to wear a skirt to church. So today I did. Generally I don't really wear skirts all that often because I find them somewhat impractical to do anything in. I guess I feel like I actually have to act a little more like a responsible adult and a little less like a 16 year old or something. It's also for that reason I'm not a fan of wearing heels. You can't do anything in them...things such as running to catch the bus or playing a soccer/ultimate frisbee/other sports. I quote, "Heels are a man's invention to prevent females from running away." I think it's from She's the Man and it's probably not exact but anyway. But today when it was sunshiny and nice outside I decided to wear a skirt. Which through all my previously stated reasons about why I don't like wearing skirts all that often, I actually don't mind wearing skirts-slightly ironically for the opposite of why I don't like wearing them (i.e. skirts make me feel more like a girl and less like a tomboy, etc.)
The other part of my day consisted of hanging out in Kensington with my friend Emily. As she's disappearing to camp for the rest of the summer it was good to hang out with her for a couple hours and do some fantastic window shopping. I also got to know one of the guys at my church a bit better. Reasons why I like transit...you can talk to people. So great. So ya. Other than that my life usually consists of work and recently researching and paper writing. Oh and did I mention that I'm currently writing this post outside...just because it is that nice out and there are surprisingly few mosquitoes about. So great.
Oh ya. I got to see my family last weekend. That made me happy. I wasn't really anticipating on seeing them until sometime in August. So I was happy to see them now including my sister and niece who is growing like a weed. So cute though.

So have a good week and watch out for zebras!
