"You can't control the way you look but you can control the way you treat others!"
~Bonnie-Rigoletto

This has been ringing in my head in the last couple days as something that stood out to me from this movie which I just recently watched. (Good movie by the way if you're into somewhat cheesy/family friendlier version of Beauty and the Beast mixed with Phantom of the Opera) Also I love the music from it...Basically the quote means what it says and has been convicting me lately. Sometimes I find that while I don't necessarily gossip about other people I also don't necessarily look at their heart i.e. seeing past what they look like. You can tell a lot about a person by how they act and the people they hang out with (1 Cor. 15:33; 1 Sam. 16:7; Matt 15:10) What makes a person is not what they look like. How many times do we need to have that statement drilled into our heads before it finally clicks? Well, I guess we can start by truly trying to appreciate the good things that we see in others in spite of what we see; this I think comes from really getting to know someone for who they are (this does not always excuse them from certain actions though). So ya. That is a bit of what I've been thinking about lately. It's somewhat repetitive and it's a good thing I'm not writing a paper on the topic...speaking of which I should probably go and work on one...

Have a gooder!

In the morning Lord we look to you
For the strength we need to make it through
Have mercy, heal us Lord

In the evening we look back and say
It was in your strength that we made our way
Have mercy, heal us Lord

You Were There

So I managed to get a laptop cord yesterday. Yay! I have laptop usage again! and got to experience a different bus route. that was fun. And after that adventure i got to help some friends make there wedding invitations. Also good times. Anyway I've been reminded of this song recently and I could just go to youtube and copy and paste a link or something but I'll let you do that. This I guess could be in response to certain friends being sick with unknown illnesses as well as the recent earthquake/ tsunami in Japan.

I wonder how it must have felt
When David stood before Goliath on a hill
I imagine that he shook with all his might
Until you took his hand and held on tight
'Cause you were there, you were there
In the midst of danger's snare
You were there you were there always
You were there when the hardest fight
Seemed so out of reach
Oh you were there. You were always there
You were always there
So there he stood upon that hill
Abraham with knife in hand was poised to kill
But God in all his sovereignty had bigger plans
And just in time you brought a ram
'Cause you were there you were there
In the midst of the unclear
You were there you were there always
You were there when obedience seemed to not make sense
You were there, you were always there
You were always there
So haven't I learned that my ways aren't as high as yours are
And you alone keep the universe from crumbling into dust
You were God and though we would not have understood you
There you were
Hanging blameless on a cross
You would rather die than leave us in the dark
Every moment every planned coincidence
Just all makes sense with your last breath
You were there you were there
In history's darkest hour
You were there you were there always
You were the Victor and the King
You were the power in David's swing
You were the calm in Abraham
You were the God who understands
You are the strength when we have none
You are the living Holy One
You were You are and You will always be the Risen Lamb of God!

Post Winter

As it is now March and therefore no longer winter (right...?) I have come to the realization that I am white. Obviously my skin is white to begin with but I am currently the I-have-not-tanned-at-all-all-winter kind of pasty whiteness that only comes well, just after winter. It didn't really help that I worked at 2 jobs last summer that required me being indoors for much of the time. I liked the places I worked, they just did not provide enough opportunities to be outside when the sun was out. Then again I'm not really one to just sit somewhere outside and tan the afternoon away. Then I feel like the day has been wasted and nothing has gotten done, even if it is too hot outside to really do anything. You can still do stuff inside in air conditioned buildings. Anyway. So ya. My roommate and I were comparing our shades of white last night. I still think I beat her in my whiteness. In other news, I had a job interview yesterday which I felt went quite well; I'll know by the end of the week if I have a job there or not. I have come to realize my dependence on my laptop as it apparently had a power surge and I am currently laptop-less. Apparently the problem can be fixed by purchasing a universal adapter, so that will be nice to have that again. Until then I get to hang out at the school and make use of computer labs and libraries. H'ray. I'm thankful that there are such things so I am not completely without access to homework assignments and yes facebook and email and other fun wastes (or not wastes) of time. And I still have my textbooks which I have been making use of. So on the whole it's not so bad and I have much to be thankful for. So ya. That's about all that's been going on recently.

Have a gooder and watch out for sea lions!

Editing...

I have decided I don't like editing...

1. It's painstakingly boring

2. It takes a lot of time that I feel could be used doing other useful work

3. It tells me I'm not as good of a writer as I like to think I am

Sigh...I guess it's a good thing to do. And this is also a good sign that my paper will be in on time and that I'll at least get better marks for it. This is also why I'm not an English major...
