Only in a small town...

Only in a small town... will their be bus cancelations that pretty much shut down the school for the day. it rained pretty hard core last night and so now that is frozen and the roads and highways are apparently super slippery. not like i'm complaining... cuz we get a day off school which is so nice to have today, since it means i have some more time to finish my documentary and do other things that i've been procrastinating on for lack of time.

Only in a small town....will people call the cops because they think someone stole their laundry only to find that it was still in the washing/drying machine! i'm not even lying. someone actually did call the cops in the summer i believe saying that someone had stolen their laundry. only to find that it hadn't even left the drier! haha.

Only in a small town....will gossip spread faster than wildfire. not even kidding. you say/do something crazy/stupid/gossip worthy on the weekend and before the end of first period pretty much the whole school is gonna know about it in 30 seconds flat. it's pathetic and ridiculous.

Only in a small town....will people shut down main street for a day/afternoon for a street dance or a boat parade or whatever other fancy the town council decides. yup we really do shut down main street for town sponsored functions from street dances to the annual boat parade to town wide bbqs. yup that's russell for ya...

Only in a small town....will people stop in the middle of main street to have a chat through their car windows. yup we do that too. it's sometimes annoying if you're stuck behind such people but hey you can turn off pretty much any street and get back on main street simply by going around the block...

Only in a small town...will the whole town show up for grad and pack out the community center so that there's pretty much standing room only. happens every year...

Only in small town...will the local newspaper be able to tell you who went to visit whom and how they're all related and exactly what they did when they visited...

yup that's town life for you. most of the time i really love it. just because it's so predictable and there's so much to it. you know you're from a small town when....statements come up pretty regularly whenever some ridiculous notion comes up that shuts down main street for a day or%

h'ray it's snowing!!!

yup i definitely love the snow and winter and coldness. well most of the time...so ya. at our exec meeting last night we were discussing the things we saw in the youth group and events that we should plan and such. and it seems that 2 completely unchurched kids came to know Christ at the newsboys/tree 63 Franklin Graham concert!!!!!!!!!!wow!!!!!!all i can say is that God is amazing. totally a "God-thing!" ah. then today in my spare Grant called more or less at random. well we started out chatting on msn and such then he called and we chatted for a while for once. mostly trying to arrange how we could all visit up at bc and he come here and such. good times.....that call just totally made my day. thanks Grant. you're awesome. so ya. other things in life....wrote part 1 of my bio midterm. ugh. i don't want to have to hear about kingdoms and phylas and fungi for at least the rest of the year. and thankfully i won't have to. wOOt. it just means some hard core studying over the last couple days...then there's the documentary. that due date got moved so i'm happy and thankful for that. once again a God-thing (i've been reading the Christy Miller series lately and a "God-thing" is mentioned a lot....and i have taken a liking to it-makes me think about the things that are provided for by God...) so ya. that much is good. kids club is going pretty swell. last week we had like 36 kids. it was amazing, yet difficult to do games cuz we haven't split up the grades yet. so i'm hoping they will just to make things easier...and less chance of people getting hurt and such. but ya. things are definitely busy. and it hit me today as i was watching snow fall that we are so often rushing to get somewhere that i dont' always just slow down enough to enjoy the smallest things in life. i've had a crazy week with assignments and such and haven't really taken the time to do things just for sheer enjoyment of it. take things one step at a time instead of trying to do everything in 5 minutes. something to think about and to try every once in a while. any who. i should go and start supper making and such.
luv y'all
