Cool...

So I was reading my Bible and trying to find a passage of Scripture that I was talking about earlier with my mom and Tiff and ended up finding another totally random passage instead. I randomly found the verse where it says that the word of the Lord will never return void. It's in Isaiah 55. I'd always thought that it was somewhere in the New Testament or something. So ya. I just thought that was kinda cool. I like finding random passages like that that are always referred to but never really referenced or anything. Or finding something Jesus said in the N.T. and finding it in the O.T. without doing the whole cross-referencing thing. And now I know that verse is actually in there. wOOt. Yay. Except that I still don't know where the passage is that I was originally looking for is...oh well.

Sitting and Waiting

It seems like we do a lot of sitting and waiting. Waiting for something exciting/good to happen to us, and we sit simply because we will go bonkers with movement if we choose to stand. I'm currently sitting and waiting for a job application to get sent in and then to hear from the potential employers. I sat around last night waiting for my older sister to come home. Why is it we sit around and wait? The waiting part can be a good thing as it teaches us patience. But why do we sit when we wait? Do you see what I'm getting at here? Too often we sit around not doing anything to make something happen while we wait and instead of teaching us patience it often shows us how impatient we humans are. This often turns into laziness and the book of Proverbs in the Bible often speaks against being idle and lazy. It makes sense when you read it in that fashion. We often don't like to think of it that way. At least I know I sure don't. When you're doing something constructive/fun, the time just seems to fly by. That's because you're actually doing something. When you don't do anything, the time seems to go by slower than usual. So I just want to encourage all of you guys out there that instead of sitting, and watching life go by to go out on an adventure and accomplish something. It is when we go out and do something that great things happen.
"Adventure is an attitude of the heart."

Bread Baking

After reading a couple of novels for English, particularly old school type novels, I decided that I really wanted to bake bread. Or at least try. So as this weekend is May Long, I finally tried out my first batch of bread. So far it is looking ok. Lookin kinda pretty sitting in the bread pans rising on the stovetop....And I've decided that whenever I move away, I want a Bosche. No kitchen should be without one. They are simply the best thing known to cooks everywhere. It is a mixer for those who have never heard of a Bosche. Quite handy for making cookies or bread or pretty much anything that requires a mixer. So ya. Ashley's comin home!! yay! Today was cold. It's the middle of May and it's like +8 outside. Freezing cold considering last week it was like +30 out. Rediculous Manitoba weather...Life on the prairies. wOOt gotta love it...well anywho. I think I should go and make some Rice Krispie cake just because it's good. I wonder if we have any marshmallows. Ever wonder what it'd be like if the world was just one big giant marshmallow? So have a gooder and watch out for kangaroos!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Can you see inside at all? That was part of a song we once sang in one of our Christmas programs back in the day. It's a pretty true statement. A mirror can't see anything of what is going on on the inside. Yet, especially as girls, we spend so much time looking in the mirror tining our reflection will have changed within the last 5 minutes or thinking we might have grown prettier in the last 10 minutes or whatever. While our mirrorz show us what we look like on the outside, it can never reveal what we look like on the inside, in the heart. Sometimes though, our appearance reflects the attitude of the heart. Or our appearance is merely a cover-up, a mask to try and disguise the attitudes we want to hide. Then there's the famous line from "Snow White" ' Mirror Mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all?' I mean while it's made as a joke or something of the sort(the right word escapes me...) it is pretty conceited. I mean a mirror isn't going to scan all the females in the world and say "Too bad, this girl in Kenya, is the prettiest one today." (No offense to anybody in Kenya.) Beauty is different for everybody. A mirror isn't going to tell you that you're beautiful. Look to Jesus. Get to know Him. Real beauty can't be measured by the day to day styles that change about as often as I change my socks. Real beauty is seen from within. So for all the people reading this, you are beautiful, special, and unique. If God had wanted us all the same He would have made us all the same. Jesus loves you!

1 Peter 3:3-4
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewellry and fine clothing. Instead it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit which is of great worth in God's sight.
