No oil=no heat

So here is a brief overview of the adventures of the last 2 nights. Tuesday I had off from work due to music. Annndd Old-time dancing! We were all excited for it too. Jake was actually home so he could come for once. So the Langenburg crew came out picked me up and off we went to Silverton. We got there and see a couple cars parked out front of the hall but there's people milling about. Then one of the ladies comes up and is like "Sorry guys, but there's no oil for the heater in the building. If you guys want to go and dance on the cement that's fine but there's no official dancing tonight." Rats. So after about a 2 minute discussion "Party at Lissa's!" So we all head back to my house where we proceed to play cards. Sevens and Cheat and Mao. wOOt. For like 2 and a 1/2 hours. Yay. Fun times. And then we chatted it up for a bit before the L-burg crew hit the road homeward. It was good times...
Then last night was flippen freezing out. I got off work at like 8 cuz we were deadish and Michelle figgered that whatever busload of kids was comin it would come after I had left anyway so what the heck. So I get all bundled up and go to start my car. Now it has been like -30 something with a windchill. My car hadn't been plugged in b/c all the plug in spots at Esso were filled when I got there....I turn the key in the ignition....annnd nothing. I try again....annnd nothing. My lights come on. That's it. I went back in to see if anybody had booster cables and could jumpstart my car. Natasha volunteered her van for the job.Duane handed me some cables and away we went. Only I've never had to jumpstart a vehicle before....Fortunately for me I had called mom and she said Dad was just at the church and so he came over. Chuck also helped out, cuz Natasha asked him kinda randomly. I'm not into asking people I don't really know to help me out....Like What if they pull a wrong cord or something and it all goes haywire??? Ya right but hey. better safe than sorry. So after standing outside and freezing our butts off for like 1/2 an hour my car finally starts! H'ray! And I proceed to drive home after letting it run for like half an hour or so. And there was also an eclipse last night too. I attempted to take some pictures of it, but none came out incredibly well. My fingers were nearly half frozen within like 2 shots. It was nuts. So then I enjoyed the eclipse from the window and itwas much better and very cool. So now it's time to do some harmony/history. Oh joy. Have a good one all now that it's starting to get nicerish out...

Happy Valentine's Day!

So yesterday I went out to April's after music and since we needed something to do, we decided to make cards. We trucked a TON of craft and artsy supplies type of stuff downstairs and the creativeness began. (The boys just rolled their eyes and escaped as fast as possible....) After supper Stacy joined us and she decided her card needed something to go in it. So we combined our creative efforts and came up with a poem. Hope you all enjoy!

On Valentine's Day
You know what they say,
"Roses are red
violets are blue"
But that's not what I'm saying to you...

Roses are yellow
Chocolate makes you mellow
A hot cup of tea
will only make you pee

The roses will wilt
And eating chocolate leads to guilt

So what's the solution to all this?
A big, fat......TEDDY BEAR!!

Stained Glass

Do you ever get the feeling that a lot of the time Christians are like stained glass windows? You know, they look perfect, show up in church every Sunday, (since they were born), grew up in a Christian family, participate in stuff like youth group, help lead kids programs, and whatever else. They do all this stuff, but really the knowledge that they're sharing doesn't really mean anything to them. It made it to the head but hasn't quite gotten to the heart yet. Like stained glass, they look absolutely beautiful but the meaning of the pictures that make up the stained glass hasn't taken on the fullness of what life could mean.
Sometimes I feel exactly like a stained glass window. I've been a Christian for as long as I can remember. I've had a few of those complete turn-your-life-around moments, but then something happens and I get caught up in the humdrum of life. My Christian walk becomes stagnant and me and God haven't talked in months. Whatever happened to the sheer joy at the realization that we can have a personal, real relationship with the Creator of heaven and earth? The realization that Christ died a horrible death so I could be with Him forever, for all eternity? So now it's time for me to drop this stained glass masquerade. I challenge you to do the same. Make your walk with God real. Not just head knowledge but let it soak into your heart like a sponge.

Are we happy plastic people Under shiny plastic steeples With walls around our weakness And smiles to hide our pain But if the invitation's open To every heart that has been broken Maybe then we close the curtain On our stained glass masquerade
