Bittersweet

Grad happened earlier today and while I am happy for my friends who have graduated many of them will not be in the city next year or this summer. Things are changing and I haven't quite caught up to it yet. I have also determined I don't like saying good-bye when I'm not the one leaving and moving on. While I know that God has so many more plans that have yet to unfold it's still a little tough saying good bye to friends who have been there for the last 4 years of my college life. And thinking how lonely next year will be without them there. I'll get used to it in time and I'm sure there will be plenty of adventures in the future just with different people but until then life will remain a tad bittersweet. In other news I hear from facebook world that some friends are engaged. Very exciting. And some other friends are having babies. woo. And another just got married today. Unfortunately I couldn't go to her wedding otherwise I would have missed grad and my roommate would have killed me...ok not literally but it was cool to be there just the same. So ya. That is about all that's going on. Our house is a bit topsy turvy with moving things around as another girl is moving in and one moved out and people are storing some stuff here for the summer and we're acquiring "new" furniture. So ya. It's pretty fun.A bit of an obstacle course trying to get around but it'll be good once everything is settled down again. There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and time to hate, a time for war and time for peace. ~Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Making Music

Nothing like making music with other people to get you out of a musical slump. It's amazing what creative minds can do when they're all put together. Once I got past the slump of in-between projects my mind went a little wild with all kinds of new ideas for both knitting and making music. I have determined I want a MIDI keyboard to use with the Finale program on my computer. Alas it will be a while before I get one as it's not exactly on the top of the priority list at the moment...:( But ya basically it would help with playing the notes and then with another feature in the program transcribe the notes I played into written note format complete with putting in the correct duration of the notes. And ya. Since I sound out a lot of stuff by ear with chording and what not it would be helpful...But ya. Not super high on the priority list at the moment due to cost...alas being a poor college student...oh well. So ya. Also what is the general opinion on adding new refrains in with old hymns? (I'm thinking of "The Wonderful Cross" and "My Chains are Gone" by Chris Tomlin in particular among others that are out there; those are 2 of the more common ones.) Is it good/bad, detract from the meaning and beauty of the original lyrics? I'm just curious. Anyway. Have a good one and watch out for dragons.

Baby Blanket

So here is the baby blanket I've been working on for a while in it's finished form. (Provided blogger works in uploading the pic...)It was a good time and took about 3 months to complete. And yes it's for my niece, though I fear she might be too big for it to be considered a baby blanket. Oh well. Also the lighting is kinda crappy in this picture :( but the colors are a pale pastel-y blue and a rainbow mix with a white border. But ya. Kinda made up my own pattern based on a design a friend of mine used a few years ago for a full sized quilt. The border made the edges ruffly which was unintended but it worked out and I like the results. So ya. In other news I handed in my last final today which means I am officially done school for the summer. Woohoo. Four years down, one to go...Now I just need to think about plans for the summer...Oh ya. I get to go home for a friend's wedding. Should be a good time, really looking forward to it actually. I might actually get to see people and hang out. So ya. That's all that's going on. Had a game night here last night which was fun, but a little strange since I'm not used to having that particular group of friends over here; usually I go to one of their houses, but it was nice to not have to worry about finding a ride and what not. Twas fun and a few random people that I was not expecting showed up so that was fun. And by random I mean I hadn't known they were coming/hadn't met them until that point. But they knew some of the other people in the group so I figured they should be ok...teehee. So ya. Good times. Looking forward to summertime and ultimate frisbee which is starting up in a couple weeks or so. woohoo. On an unrelated note...since when did blogger change its layout for writing entries??? I'm not sure if I like the new layout...could take some getting used to... Lissa

Sometimes getting out of your comfort zone is kinda scary...

Lead me Lord.
Even though at times
I'd rather go alone my way
Help me take the right direction
Take your road

Musical Slumpish

Sometimes I listen to so much good music that it's difficult to make my own. All the music that I have seems unfitting, etc. That or else I just haven't played much lately due to school and life and therefore am uninspired to play at all...unless of course it's on a real piano...and even then my own music is unpracticed and unfitting for the instrument...Maybe over summer I'll have more time to expand my repertoire. That'd be good...

Epic Homework Time

Epic piano music totally makes homework easier. Though I gotta confess I am jealous of this guys talent and wish that I could make the piano sound as awesome and epic...

So close to being done with this semester...:)I can count the assignments and finals on one hand...

Bringing out the Bike

So I just had the first bike ride of the season...and realized I am out of shape...but it was a good first run though I think my bike might need some tweaking or something to get it into better running order after being out of use for the winter. Not sure and I don't think I would know how to fix it if it did need some work...meh I could probably figure it out...maybe...or not...In other news we had a choir trip this last weekend; all the way to BC. woohoo. It was a really good trip though and we stopped in Radium for the hot springs. Awesomeness. And it was rainy and foggy and cold and not snowy and cold. so ya On the whole a pretty good trip and it was good to get out of the city for a while.
My sister had another baby girl a couple weeks ago. So cute. I have yet to meet her though. All in good time. I might get to go home twice this summer so I'll get to meet her soon enough. I've been working on something for her but on the off chance my sister might read this I will have to refrain from saying what it is. But it's been good. And fun to work on and a distraction from facebook which was given up in lieu of Lent. So ya. Life is good in some ways. Not good in others. But y'know. "Thing's'll turn out all right in the end," to quote Mrs. Potts. so anyway. It is now time to start finishing up the last of my papers for this semester and then I will be down to 2 semesters left until I graduate. woohoo!!! And surprisingly, or not, I did not do anything April Fools'y this year, though I heard some fun stories from a friend...

And everything that's new had bravely surfaced
Teaching us to breathe
And what was frozen through
Is newly purposed
Turning all things green
So it is with you
And how you make me new
With every season's change
And so it will be
As you are re-creating me
Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring
